PORTWELL RELEASED THE Intel® 865 chipset and LGA 775® socket based SBC
Support Core 2 Duo and higher speed Pentium D/Pentium M/Celeron D CPUs, affordable cost
Fremont, CALIF. -- October 16, 2006American Portwell Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a member of the Intel Communications Alliance, has released its new PICMG 1.0 Single Board Computer (SBC), ROBO-8713BVG2 based on Intel 865 chipset to support Intel LGA 775 processor that includes Pentium 4, Pentium D, Celeron D as well as the most fantasy Intel 2nd generation dual-core processor, Core 2 Duo. Intel Infrastructure Platform Division (IPD) just included its 865 chipset this February to echo the demanding of more competitive platform. Since the chipset was launched three years ago, the processor it supports at time is socket 478 Pentium 4 & Celeron processor. More aggressive to have the cutting edge, the 865 chipset is capable of supporting Socket-T, the LGA 775 socket with dual-core processor. As result, cost effective chipset with easily reachable LGA 775 processor are two irrefutable advantages of ROBO-8713BVG2 for many applications that would like to transition from socket 478 processor to higher efficiency LGA 775 processor.
Portwell based on its years-experience in this filed to help users with selected Intel chipset which features great benefits. And ROBO-8713VGA/UGA are good example that are two boards Portwell offered to its partners few years ago with 865 chipset even Intel IPD does not include it in its longevity support program. With insight of the chipset and practice, Portwell extends the 800MHz front side bus limitation of 865 to support 1,066MHz front side bus Intel Core 2 Duo processor to bring lower power consumption and extreme dual-core performance on the new single board computer.
Cost-savings bears in every application
“No application can get away from cost competition when the challenge comes from all over the world. And that’s why Portwell supply several levels products to its collaborators for full-range product portfolio,” says Frank Shen, American Portwell’s Product Marketing Director.
“And the relentless technology proper implementation into different computing platform is our mission of company to make world better through our collaborator’s innovation.”
Flexible computing engine
Portwell’s ROBO-8713BVG2 single board computer supports Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium® D, Pentium® 4, or Celeron D in an LGA775 socket that is equipped with dual-core, hyper-threading, EM64T, EIST, XD and VT technologies. “ROBO-8713BVG2 is part of Portwell’s product development planning of Intel LGA 775 processor that is entry level single board computer with the best cost/performance. Together with ROBO-8717VG2A that Portwell just launched few days ago and more boards in different form factors in near future are forming as crack product portfolio to see to successful transition of socket 478,” comments Jack Lam, Senior Product Marketing Manager, American Portwell.
“The ROBO-8713BVG2 single board computer is a PICMG 1.0 PCI/ISA single host board that adopts the Intel® 865GV Express chipset,” explains Lam. “This is the unique technology that Portwell applied it on the existing Intel chipset and supports the Intel® Core 2 Duo® processor, which has speeds of up to 1066 MHz.”
“The 865GV chipset is famous for its competitive price among all Intel® integrated graphics controller applied in the embedded appliance, and the Graphics controller supports the necessary display functions for the industrial application at a wonderful cost/performance rate,” adds Shen.
