PCI-Express,
the new I/O interface, is supported by the Intel® 915GV
Express chipset and has solved bandwidth bottlenecks with scalable
performance, frequency and lanes. With PCI compatible configuration
and device driver interface, there is little effort required
to migrate to this new interface. PCI Express connects the dual
Gigabit Ethernet controllers on the Portwell RUBY-9712VG2A. |

"RUBY-9712VG2A provides highly flexible and scalable
solution delivering outstanding system performance through
its high-bandwidth interface," said Don Chang, President
of Portwell. It also can enhance bandwidth-intensive applications
for audio, video and gaming. This new design will provide
customers with innovative technology and for multitasking
environments over previous Portwell SBC.

RUBY-9712VG2A uses the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator
900 (Intel® GMA 900), the third-generation graphics
core, delivering an enhanced media viewing experience thanks
to the faster core. It has increased memory bandwidth and
hardware acceleration for Microsoft DirectX 9, improving
3D performance. Intel HD Audio (Intel High Definition Audio)
ushers in a new era of sound quality on mainstream and performance,
paving the way for broad adoption of next-generation audio.
In addition to all these features, RUBY-9712VG2A also maintains
some features that are critical for industrial applications
such as 32-bit PCI expansion, Watch Dog Timer, CompactFlash
socket and GPIO.
